  1. Ha ok it is NOT split personalites ignore the other guy

Its when your moods swing from very high (manic) to very low (depressed).

There are 2 types, Bipolar I and Bipolar II. Basically the only difference is the amount of times it swings and the time it takes. Eg rapid cycling might mean your moods change a few times a day (like me thats II) or over a period of months, even years.

When you're manic you can take risks, feel very confident, talk fast, be very excited, not sleep, be very socialble, feel like you can do anything, a bit like on drugs.

  2. i'm bipolar and for me i have enough energy for 15 people one day then the next day i want to beat up those 15 people . on an imaginary line you want to stay on an even course. but being bipolar you don't, one day you will spike up which is everythings just fine then one day you will crash below the line where you don't want to exist because of the negativity it brings.you dont want to smile, leave house, go to work, talk to people, you just want to sleep till it goes away which could take a while. it's  a place in your mind that you don't want to dwell for very long. throw in alcohol and your in for a lot of pain and misery. i was diagnosed in 1991 during my first try at rehab, today i take 5 mg. of zyprexa and 20 mg. of paroxetine ( generic paxil ) which keeps me on an even keel.and has mellowed me out immensely.today i have 10 1/2 years sobriety and life is going really good. one day at a time. i have tried not taking the zyprexa ( bad idea ) because without insurance its $269 a bottle per month, i got a new job and missed the insurance cut off date by 4 days so i had to buy it on my own for a year. i tried not taking it but i can't function without it. i hope this explains what you needed to know. =)

  3. a person that switches from two extremely diffrent emotions in a short time

like one minute they can be happy and the next minute they can be depressed

  4. split personalities

  5. There are actually three kinds of bipolar disorder: Bipolar I, Bipolar II, and mixed-state. Bipolar I and II have been well defined above. Mixed state bipolar disorder is when a person experiences symptoms of both manic and depressive states simultaneously. Sometimes the symptoms of one are more prevalent than the other, but they always coexist. Also, the symptoms intensify and lessen over time.

  6. Bipolar does not mean you have a split personality.

It is the 'new' name for what used to be called manic depression.

I find this organisation is a great help and very informative.
