  1. Basically, it prevents the heat from escaping the athmoshpere back into space, resulting in increased temperatures for the Earth (at least that's what all the global warming pundits say!)

There is probably more and better information available at science websites and your local library.

  2. Plants use CO2 in a process called photosyenthesis to convert it to oxygen to allow animals (humans) to breathe. And the CO2 we breath out allows plants to breath. In turn the CO2 creates a process called the greenhouse effect which basically means that gasses cant escape from the earths atmosphere. Which leads to events that we see in films like the day after tommorow

  3. It allows plants to grow.  Makes oxygen for us to breath and food to eat.

  4. A layer of greenhouse gases (of which CO2 is one) forms, trapping heat from the Sun.

The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere controls the Earth's temperature, which is why it is important that we try to cut emissions, because it is causing global warming.

    Hope that helps =)

  5. I'm in Year 9 too so I'll tell you what I learnt :)

Heat comes from the sun through our atmosphere and heats our planet and then tries to escape to space. However CO2 retains some of the heat which means it is trapped and cannot escape. Therefore CO2 is called a greenhouse gas because it is causing the Earth to heat up (global warming) as it will not let all of the heat escape.

    This diagram might be helpful:)

  6. Makes it gasp for breath and reach for nice Mister Oxygen.

  7. Plants turn it into o2
