I see that on all of the online schooling websites, but I'm not clear on what it means.

  1. Correspondence is communication between people. Like when you email someone and they email you back...that's correspondence.

  2. it means you can either go to school online through email or you can even go through the mail to get your credits. Hope that helps.

  3. In terms of correspondence school, you do your lessons at home with your books and materials, and send in your work and tests to be graded, and the school sends back your graded work.  Usually there's an established schedule for this, so that it's easier for you to stay on track, such as so many lessons a week per subject, with a test every so-many lessons.  This method has been used for schooling for decades!

Online courses aren't really correspondence -- that would be more like "interactive".

  4. I just graduated from American School of Correspondence.

Each subject has about 8 exams. You send each to the school in Illinois... then an instructor sends the graded exam back.
