  1. you are a protracter (like an angle measurer) literally, but it is a form of german slang to use this as a 'you are a geek', not the nicest thing to say to someone!

  2. It means - "You are a w*nker!" colloquially!

    EDIT...The literal intent is as stated!.....BUT what was the actual intent?...

    I think that you will find that I am right!

  3. You are a protractor.

    Literal translation.

  4. It means she's not a native German speaker.

    Winkelmesser is a noun, a masculine, noun, so it would have been EINEN winkelmesser.

    It's a Protractor, the thing that measures angles in geometry.

    She probably learned the word today and was showing off.

  5. It means approx that you are an L-shaped blade

    du bist = you are

    ein = one

    winkelmesser = L-shaped blade

    Here's a German song something like = du ist die welt [to me] you are my world etc.  blah!  you know the Germans.

    The above was written by Richard Tauber possibly in the 1930s.

    Richard spent the entire war years here in England - an Austrian Jews - can't blame him for that.

  6. "You are a protractor."

    And open4one is not correct in saying that it should have been "einen Winkelmesser".

  7. you are a protector
