  1. There are two interpretations:

    The yellow symbolizes sovereignty and justice;

    The blue nobility, loyalty and vigilance;

    The red valor, honor, generosity and victory achieved at the high cost of bloodshed.

    and

    Yellow: universal liberty;

    Blue: the equality of all races and social classes before God and the law;

    Red: fraternity

  2. Yellow is for the cowardice of Las Farc, the Paras and those who support them. Red is for the blood they have spilt and those who are being held captive and blue for the ocean where they should be dumped.

    Seriously, n a letter written by Francisco de Miranda, referring to a conversation he had with Goethe, he explained the symbolic meaning of the flag's color stripes: "First he explained to me the way the iris transforms the light into the three primary colours... then he said why Yellow is the most warm, noble and closest to the bright light; why Blue is that mix of excitement and serenity, so far that it evokes the shadows; and why Red is the exaltation of Yellow and Blue, the syntesis, the vanishing of the bright light into the shadows".

    In modern times, different interpretations have been taught to children at school: yellow symbolizes the rich resources of its grounds; blue symbolizes the two oceans that surround its coasts; red represents the blood of the heroes who died while fighting for Colombia's independence.

  3. I'm Colombian also and as I remember, Yellow means the light of the sun that iluminates our land, Blue is the color of our two oceans and Red is the blood of the soldiers that lost their life in the battles....like the other guy said...Venezuela and Ecuador belonged to Colombia and that's why we have the same color of the flags...good luck and i hope it helps!

    Colombia is passion

  4. I AM COLOMBIAN  and what i they thought me  was

    yellow , the riches of  land (twice as long as the other 2 colors )

    blue the 2 oceans the riches of the sea

    red the blood sheed  required to free the nation, that is the original flag , keep in mind that ecuador and venezuela were once part of the great colombia and when they separated they  took the flags original designed and change it

  5. Well, Im Colombian so I can tell you about our flag. The Flag have 3 bands, the first one is Yellow and is twice the other ones, after, the blue and red bands.

    The yellow means the gold of our land, as you know in the conquest, Colombia was called the Virreynato de la Nueva Granada, and was one of the most important gold sources to the spanish empire. Actually, Colombia is one of the most important  producers of Gold in the World

    The Blue color means the oceans, everybody knows that Colombia is the unique country in South America that have shores on the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

    And Finally the Red means the blod of all of our patriots that bleed on the independence war against the Spanish Empire.

    Good Luck with your project!
