  1. Honestly it's about as detailed as McCain's energy policy (increase drilling & nuclear) seems to be.

More than the energy policy, I enjoyed the jab 'if McCain is putting me in his commercials, I guess I must be running for President', because as we all know, Paris Hilton has no place in a presidential race commercial.

I wonder how many people will write-in 'Paris Hilton' in November now...

  2. It is a copy cat of Obama's policy after his willingness  to compromise on off shore drilling.

  3. Well, Bob, I've been an advocate of this approach to the situation from the get-go. The truth is that there is no silver bullet to this problem, and trying to find the one pivotal solution is only going to waste money, time and energy.

What we need is, as you say, a compromise, but not only do we need a compromise, we need a solution to the problem that incorporates multiple approaches.

Offshore drilling, regrettably, seems to be the primary manner in which we can bolster the energy crisis and create a greater degree of energy independence, but to maintain that independence and move forward both environmentally and technologically, we must provide incentives for people to use less energy in their everyday lives, and incentives for industry to facilitate that low energy lifestyle. In addition to that, we absolutely must begin implementing alternative energy technologies on a large scale to aid in buttressing our future and cleaning up our act.

Personally, I think that this is the best way forward. There may be permutations of the approach that are better, but the idea is in the right place, and I think you're spot on in saying that offshore must be included in any major alternative energy laws that want to have even a remote chance of passing in the next year or two.

  4. I just saw it and thought it was too funny. It is probably the smartest thing I've ever heard her say.

  5. Good enough. No point in even bothering to drill though.

We should go full bore to super efficiency and renewables now.  It's going to happen anyway.  The sooner we get started the sooner we get the benefits.  I don't care who does it or who makes the money.

I'm hoping that in my lifetime we get to electric cars.  Then my street will be quiet again like it was when I was a kid.

  6. HI and I can't stop laughing! Thank you for that-I had  been having a kind of tough day but watching that made me lmao. I didn't even know that she new what hybrid meant! That was "totally" scripted for her but, I  have to admit that she pulled it off quite well. Thanks for the giggles and the link to a new funny site! Have a great one as I just had the best laugh I have had in a while!

  7. It makes me laugh - sitting there in her bathing suit, reading her magazine about getting a tan and concluding her opinion with wanting to paint the White House pink.

Anway, her campaign speech sounds very rational and diplomatic, however, there is a problem with increasing off-shore drilling with strict oversight while developing alternative sources of energy.  The problem is the oversight group and what would they be overseeing.  Setting new rules in regulations in place with a new organization might take just as long to develop as marketing new technologies.  So, what happens in the meanwhile?  Also, I believe more off-shore drilling on a temporary basis would not be temporary, and the same old standard of reliance on oil would continue - the new technologies for alternative fuel might be developed but would not replace oil companies and become the new standard.

Edit:  Yes, I see your point.  I read the New Era bill that is being proposed by the Gang of 10 senators, and it actually looks reasonable and fair.  We'll see what happens when they all reconvene in a couple of weeks.

  8. Her plan is more reasonable than "tire gauge" Obama. We do need to drill here and drill now while we continue to research alternative energy.

  9. i saw this yesterday, and thought that she have a perfect answer for the energy crisis.

in other words don't pick one solution, pick them all and spread out the energy production, and that way take the control away from anyone controller.

  10. Wow, I never had an energy policy give me wood before...
