Question:

What does everyone think about a red, lavender, and tiny accents of lime green for summer wedding colors?

I'm getting married next July. I want red because all my bridesmaids looked great in the color! I wanted lavender or lilac because lavender means love, loyalty and luck to the celtic tradition, which is the theme of our wedding. And I thought tiny touches of lime green would be gorgeous with the lilac. Would the three colors work well together?

  1. I think the lavender and green would look great together. I'm not sure about the red with those colours though... it would look ok as an accent colour, otherwise pink or silver might be a better choice with the green and lavender.

Red, silver and white would also look good, with tiny accents of lime (to avoid looking Christmasy): http://www.bestweddingsites.com/BlogImag...

  2. What color of red are you thinking about here?  I would do pink with those colors, any shade would look fine.  But red (and I'm thinking apple red or fire engine truck red) I don't see working well with the lavender and lime green.

  3. I think if you combine the colors in a way that makes sense, it could work.  You could have beautiful, vibrant centerpieces and bouquets with red roses and lilacs and lots of greenery with just little bits of lime green ribbons or beading in them and that could be a really interesting look.  Also, for your invitations, you could have some type of subtle paper with the green and lavenders with a layer of vellum over the top and either tied on with a red ribbon or have them printed in red ink.  With the lilacs and roses, your possibilities are endless with that color combination.

Because all of the colors have significance to you, if you do a wedding program, you could have a small paragraph to explain the Celtic traditions and what each color means so your guests are better able to envision your ideas also.

  4. I can't picture ever seeing those colours together before in real life, but that doesn't mean it won't look good.

I've always wanted to paint a baby boy's room in soft turquoise, red and touches of lime/bright green, I think those look great together.  So replacing the soft turquoise with lavender works in my head .... but again, I haven't seen those together in front of me.

I suggest going to paint store and getting paint chips of the each of the colours you have in mind.  So you have a reference for shopping.  Or, go to a fabric store and get little swatches.  That's what I did, and it's nice ot have a constant to go back too.  "Lavender" can mean a different shade to different people

  5. I think it would look great! i dont know why everyone thinks opposite..and also i like the fact that the colors mean something to you that adds a special touch! another great thing is that these colors arent popular i have been to many weddings with the same colors and it gets boring after a while. i put this together in paint to see how the colors look together and i think it looks fabulous!!

enjoy your big day and im sure you will get many compliments on your color choice

  6. Lavender and lime work, but the red does not. Red is a hard colour to co-ordinate because it can so easily look tacky. I would ditch the red.

  7. the colors are great but ins-ted of red go with orange-red

  8. I think the lilac and lime green would make beautiful summer colors but the red sounds like it would really throw it all off.  Maybe a deep pink, its close but would blend much better.
