Please think of these as two completely seperate questions:

1.) What do you think of married couples who reside in two seperate apartments with nothing actually keeping them apart (army, peace corps, college, etc)?

* Ex: I had a professor who was remarried and lived in an apartment that was a town away from his (new) wife's apartment.

2.) What do you think about married couples who live together, but have seperate bedrooms?

* Ex: I believe in Will & Grace Will's parents had seperate bedrooms.

  1. Works for some people. I know couples that cannot stand to live together but are great friends and lovers when they see each other a few times a month.

  2. The separate bedrooms thing I actually understand.  After so many years of sharing everything, it's nice to have something that is all one's own.  Also, light sleepers can't sleep in the same bed (or room) with a loud snorer.

The separate apartment/house thing is an abuse of the tax breaks that married coupls get.  It's called a common-law marriage and is part of the reason we have the divorce rates we do.

  3. Actually, I don't think about either one.

  4. In the traditional sense it makes absolutely no sense.  If you cant live with someone, then you shouldnt marry them.  if you arent sleeping together at night, other than the occasional "i fell asleep on the couch watching tv" then the couple must have some serious problems than arent being confronted.  Married couples should at minimum, want to sleep together when the day is done.

  5. Maybe they have a relationship that you don't understand?

    I know I let my gf's do ANYTHING..and people think that's extremely odd, but i don't.

  6. if you are maried why not live with each other???
