I have been seeing more of the show Dog the Bounty Hunter. But how does it work exactly? Do they get hired by the police or something. Just curious.

  1. Most got it basically right, but it is not always a 10% post since the bonds people are private companies they can and do charge what they want, usually according to your record of showing up in court.

If you try to take a no show into custody in many states in the US you are arrested for kidnapping. Despite what bounty hunters claim they have no constitutional protection. There are least 5 states that do not allow bounty hunters in. Those states only honor judicial warrants and only served by a sworn officer. The police make the arrest, the bondsman looses his money.

  2. a company puts up bail to get someone out of jail. the person on bail does not go to court or commits another crime or does not keep in touch with person who pays bond. the judge or person who puts up money for bail says to bondsman criminal is not doing what he is suppose too. so wooof here comes the dog

  3. a bail bondsman puts up money for you.

Example: Say your brother gets arrested but you don't have the money to bail him out (you must produce 10% of the bail amount). If you don't have it. You go to a bondsman and he puts up the money. But if your brother flees, the bailsman sends out a bounty hunter, aka Dog. They are basically hired police who are licensed to bring you in like the police.

Side note: Dog got in trouble for grabbin a rapist in Mexico. He got in as much trouble as the rapist because there is no extradition (if someone makes it to Mexico, they don't have to give him to us).

    Hope I was helpfull!

  4. DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER IS A JOKE. BOUNTY HUNTING IS MUCH HARDER THAN THE SHOW PORTRAYS . BOUNTY HUNTERS ARE HIRED EITHER BY THE BONDSMEN OR THE INDEMMITER ON THE BOND. TO LOCATE AND EFFECT THE ARREST. SO THERE IS NO MONETARY LOSS ON THEIR PART. THE HUNTERS HAVE BROAD ARREST POWERS GRANTED BY THE SUPREME COURT. IF THE HUNTER IS POSITIVE OF THE FUGITIVES LOCATION HIS POWERS ALLOW HIM TO BREAK AND ENTER A RESIDENCE. WITHOUT A SEARCH WARRANT. HE WILL HAVE AN ARREST WARRANT FOR THE FUGITIVE. ANYONE HIDING THE FUGITIVE CAN BE CHARGED FOR AIDING AND ABETTING A FUGITIVE. BOTTOM LINE HE CAN TEAR DOWN A DOOR ON A CHURCH ON SUNDAY CHRISTMAS MORNING DURING THE MIDDLE OF A FUNERAL AND ARREST THE FUGITIVE AND TRANSPORT HIM ACROSS STATE LINES TO THE JURISDICTION WHERE HE/SHE IS A FUGITIVE FROM. THE FUGITIVE IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE PROPERTY OF THE BONDSMAN. THE HUNTER CANNOT DUE THIS UNLESS HE KNOWS 100% HIS FUGITIVE IS THERE. THE BONDSMAN AND THE INDEMITER HAVE THE RIGHT TO REVOKE THE BOND AT ANYTIME IF THEY FEEL THE PERSON IS GOING TO BE A FLIGHT RISK EVEN IF THEY MADE ALL THEIR COURT APPOINTMENTS. AND NYC COPS ARE SO ARROGANT BECAUSE HUNTERS ARE BETTER THEN THEM AND SMARTER.

  5. they get highered by the people who paid the criminals bond...they go after the criminals that don't go to court nor pay their fees....

  6. You put up 10% of your bond to get out until the trial, the bondsman takes the risk on the rest (if you have nobody else to bail you out)

Then if you skip, the bondsman loses his money

So the bounty hunter find them and brings them back for money

  7. Well firstly, if he tried doing what he does here in Australia, he wouldn't last long.

Either the bounty hunter himself or another company pays for a suspect's bail when they can't afford it for themselves, on the condition that they show up to court on time (and stick to any other bail conditions) and pay a fee (often 10% of the bail amount, upfront). The bounty hunter comes in when people skip bail (or appear to have done so before the court date) and tries to recover the suspect, and the money (if they can force the suspect to show up to court on time, they'll get it back).

  8. Bond companies are private companies that take cash payments from people then post a bond for someone in jail.  If that person does not go to court the bond company loses the money they paid for the bond.  To get that money back they have "bounty hunters" that go looking for the person that skipped bail.  Once that person is in custody and goes to court, then the bond company gets their money back.
