What does fan fiction mean ?

i know i have lack of knowledge ...

but what does it mean when their is fan fiction version of a certain type of story or movie ?

oh and what does "leak" mean because i went to this website and they said that their was a "Midnight Sun" leak ...for those who are twilight

Fan fiction are stories written by fans of books/movies/television shows, etc. Generally the stories use the same characters and settings that are found in the original creation.

As for what a "leak" is, when someone says that there's a leak, it usually means that content has been posted online before it has been officially released.

When there is a fan fiction of a story, it means that a person, i.e., the fan, either loved or disliked the story so much that they decide to make their own spin-off, either to make things as they think they should be, or to elaborate on a series like Harry Potter where you don't always get to know the ending right away. It's sort of a pass-time for dye-hard fans while were waiting on newer books...at least it is for me.

A leak is where someone wrote a story containing information about a new book, and they may accidentally leak it out before someone has read it.

A leak is also sometimes called a spoiler, because it spoils the ending  of the book for those who haven't read it themselves. Us fanfictioners like to warn our readers about spoilers and leaks because some might get upset about this, and no one likes to receive angry emails from distressed readers.....

fanfiction.net is a website where anyone can post a story that is a spin-off of a real tv show, book, movie, comic book, etc. they can use the characters and/or follow the plot line but usually authors just use the characters and make the story their own. you should check it out, some of them are horrible but every once and a while you find a really good writer.
