How do you define freedom? So many people talk about freedom but it seems like such a vague concept when you think of it in terms of practice.

  1. Freedom, in my opinion is 'independent living' without having any worries about anyone else trying to control me; whether it is a parent, relative, the city, government, bosses, and financial inadequacy.

I don't believe one can truly live in a world that's free. There is always a certain level of dependency and conformity where one is always abiding by law to a certain degree; ie, driving laws..We all have to abide by them and can't just drive the way we want to ; like foregoing the 4-way stops and crossing solid double yellow lines..There will always be consequences for breaking the law.

Even then, some are unable to live freely because they themselves are imprisoned by themselves from within.  Always worrying about what they're doing and its consequences.

So, to live with true freedom w/o any worries is virtually impossible.  There will always be that level of conformity that will guide the way we live our daily lives.

  2. Freedom is knowing you have to leave, but choosing to stay anyway.

  3. Freedom is living your life without too much questions.

  4. hmmmm, being able to be yourself, show your opinions and not be held down.

  5. 8-Being in rhythm with reality to such an extent that external constraints are no longer effective. A person can be a captive and not defeated as long as heshe is internally not defeated.

  6. Time to learn about ourselves. example; In the early morning of Tuesday, I saw a frog swallowing the tail end of a gecko and this image revealed my sensitive stomach and also introduced me to a fact about the different cultural diets that i do not like for personal consumption. Yet there are many who try to change the preferred diets of a culture, my stomach-my mind.

  7. Freedom means to me; staying out of jail.  It means being able to life your life without having to look over your shoulder, without having to worry about something you have said; could it be taken out of context?

To be able to raise your own family without the government getting involved.  To be able to live life the way the Lord intended.

Freedom to me is being able to worship God and share how awesome is He, where ever you go.  : )

  8. Liberty is Man's capability of causing his own course of actions by his own means. Free will ('liber arbiter' in Latin), which allows one to make our her/his choices, is the epitome of freedom.

  9. Freedom in not what is granted to give to us by government. It is the unalienable sovereignty granted only by one's birth, and protected by just governments.

"Individual sovereignty was not a peculiar conceit of Thomas Jefferson: It was the common assumption of the day;"

Governments are instituted among men to preserve their individual sovereignty. Freedom is the ability to do anything whatsoever that one wishes to do with his sovereignty--ANYTHING--so long as he/she does not infringe upon the sovereignty of another individual.
