What does fringe benefits mean?

Benefits provided by your employer in a form other than cash.  Cars, laptops, some meals, parking etc.  In Australia they are subject to a special tax regime called Fringe Benefit Tax with its own rules.  The rate is generally lower than the rate of income tax, but if you are considering a salary sacrifice in return for fringe benefits you should consult an accountant.  The rules can be a bit tricky.
