  1. Hey there,

The "gain" setting is a power setting. The further you turn the gain up, the more power that it will allow through to the speaker(s). More power= Louder and Clearer sound. Just be careful and make sure that you speaker(s) can handle the power that you are feeding them. Good luck!

  2. Gain is actually the amount of voltage you send to through the amp. For example you might have 14V going into the amp but as you turn the gain up you may get 40V or more coming out.  The more voltage the more power but be careful because if you turn the gain up too far you can get distorted music.  To solve that problem simple use a scope to make sure you have a full sine wave that doesn't cutoff to maximize your amps power...

  3. Well, I'll actually give you an answer with a way to adjust it correctly.

The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).

Here is a guide that will help you set the gain correctly http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php...

You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

If you don't have Excel, use this link http://www.box.net/shared/nkkw1dhk4g
