  1. Gaited horses are like Tennessee Walkers, Paso Finos, Single-Footers, Missouri Fox Trotters, and so forth.  They move differently than regular horses and perform extra gaits outside of the walk trot canter that normal riding horses do.

  3. A gaited horse is... well, here's a website dedicated to "What is a gaited horse?" Here are a few sites that I found that describe it pretty well. Sorry I couldn't describe it myself, but I'm not really good at describing those kinds of things.

  5. a gaited horse generally is one that moves the legs on one side of its body at the same time instead of the opposite pair.  Pasos are the most common gaited breed, but Rocky Mountain horses are naturally gaited and so are some Standardbred harnes racers.  My Tenn Walker/Saddlebred gelding is laterally gaited and it's really fun to ride him when he is gaiting.  WHen he's gaiting he moves both legs on his right side at the same time then the other side.

  6. Gaited means the the horse has more than three gaits.  Most horses walk, trot and canter.  Gaited horses have another gait performed laterally.

TWH, RMH, KMH, MFT, some Appaloosas, some Morgans, some QH's have a smooth fourth gait.

The tendency to gait is a genetic link back to the horses brought back to this continent by the Conquistadores.  The descendants of those horses are today known as Spanish Colonial Horses.

  7. Every horse has gaits.  The normal ones are walk, trot, canter and gallop.  But then you have some breeds that can do all the above and then extra gaits.  My Paso Fino does lateral gaits called a corto, a largo and some pasos do a fino.  But he also can trot, canter and gallope.  His canter is collected really nice because of his background.  Check out youtube for videos of said gaits.  Other breeds have similar gaits but are called diffierent things.  For instance Icelandics have whats called a tolte.  Not sure about spelling?  Anyways hope this anwers you question!

  8. The patterns of footsteps a horse makes at various speeds are called 'gaits'. In English-style riding, there are four basic gaits: the walk (four-time beat); the trot (two-time beat); the canter (three-time beat); the gallop (four-time beat).

So a "gaited horse" means that the horse can walk, trot, canter and gallop.

I hope that clears things up for you, am I'm sorry if it didn't help!

  9. its when a horse can walk trot canter or gallop
