  1. Unlike Adam I dont belive that anythign should be sacrified I should be allowed to as miserable as i want to be with out some tree huggin r****d to come along and tell me not to eat that mcdonalds hamburger cause  it is bad for me or  its carbon foot print is to big, the real sacrifice you will make is freedom of all choice in you life. follow the money and you can see that going green is named appropate for those that scream the loudest about going green darn sure stand to make alot of green from your ignorance and emotinal instability.

    EDIT BEstonee!!! THe largest source of the so called global warming gas is volcanos how do you suppose to stop them form killing us?

    by the way china dosnt share you view on hoe bad coal is for th enviroment they are gogin all coal for the next 5 years they are building them like they cant get enough of coal plants. YEt we are the largest coal producers i the owrld and then tree huggers dont want us to make a profit off selling the coalto the chicoms why?

  2. Global warming right, wrong or indifferent is a hobgoblin created by Al Gore and his buddies to sell carbon credits in the US and get a big pay out when we finally start building nuclear reactors in the next five years.

  3. You will have to give up:

    Unhealthy food in favour of fresh and tasty produce that is locally produced (also helping the local economy);

    A dependency upon oil that leaves the country vulnerable to foreign interests and terrorism;

    Obesity in favour of a long, healthy and enjoyable life built around personal fitness and vitality;

    Enslavement to advertising & consumerism that will lead to more money in your pocket, a higher standard of living andf less frustrations (you will buy things with discernment - they will be of higher quality and enjoyability);

    Commuting for hours, frustrating traffic jams & concrete jungles in favour of well-designed cities that are safe, clean and pleasant to walk around accessed by high speed, regular and affordable public transport that is relaxing and even enjoyable to use;

    Plastic bags fluttering by the side of roads, overpackaging, throwing food away that rotted too fast, throwing out cheap goods that break after a week, litter, garbage in the parks, dirty rivers;

    Low paying, low-tech jobs, poor housing and low standards of living by embracing a high-tech, energy efficient way of life in harmony with your surroundings;

    Wasting money by burning it/giving it to foreigners.

    And that's just the short list of what you will have to give up!

    Hope it helps...

    Edit:

    Nope, I didn't branch off - you asked what you would have to give up or change - I told you. ALL of the above "sacrificies" will help alleviate the effects of AGW.

    It's not my fault that:

    a) Actions often have more than one consequence (e.g. reducing oil dependency by reducing oil consumption is an AGW priority. It also happens to increase national security.

    b) Deniers can only think in black and white - it's been seen over and over in this forum. It IS possible to help the planet AND help yourself AND help your neighbours AND help your country... more than one thing!!

    Ben:

    Thanks! Of course, unlike a lot of advertisers I was helped by the fact that my "product" is useful and that the claims are true!

    I note that no one has refuted my claims nor offered any of their own, just a couple of the normal foam at the mouth rants devoid of any fact or sense...

  4. sacrifice everything made from oil, but i`m not going to do it

  5. Stock up your ammo.  Global Warming is actually Global Terror.  And, because it is causing panic and fear.  It is real Global Terrorism.

  6. Adam,

    You make AGW alarmism sound so wonderful, you could write an AGW commercial.  You can sell it the same way companies used to sell cigarettes.

    You can show people travelling around in biofuel powered lear jets and hybrid Hummers and having great s*x lives.  Slogans could be "AGW alarmism, your international passport to the ultimate lifestyle".

    (edit) You know what I think about the science of AGW.  The point is that AGW is marketed the same way that a lot of products are - don't focus on the product - show smiling people living a desirable lifestyle.

  7. You're not a skeptic, denier yes, but skeptic, no.

    Anyway, what we'll have to sacrifice is coal miners jobs (we'll retrain them for other work and offer some early retirement, besides, it'll take decades to actually phase out coal).

    If we have to do much more than that we'll just end up handing victory to the denialists anyway (since the public will not tolerate a lowering of their standard of living).

    Fortunately we have nuclear power which can replace the largest source of global warming without requiring a reduction in electricity usage although we still need to solve transportation fuels.
