  1. I believe your talking about the Chevy commercials?

it just means that they currently have gas friendly cars (cars that get good gas mileage) and soon they will start making cars that wont need to run on any fuel at all (i.e. Electric cars)

  2. Gas-friendly simply means that the vehicle gets better than average fuel economy for that type of car or truck, and will go further on a gallon of gasoline. This includes most hybrids, but simply being a hybrid doesn't necessarily make it any more gas-friendly than the non-hybrid version (example: the Malibu hybrid only improves gas mileage from 22 city/30 highway to 24 city/32 highway, not nearly enough to justify the higher price and potential environmental effects of battery replacement in a few years.). And a flex-fuel vehicle may be considered gas-friendly since it wil burn 85% ethanol, but since it gets much lower fuel mileage that when it is burning standard pump gasoline, it really doesn't get play as being gas-friendly.

Gas free means that it is powered by an alternative fuel, not by gasoline. Although the alternative fuel is implied to be electricity, it also includes hydrogen gas which, in the fuel cell, is actually chemically reacted to generate electricity to power the vehicle rather than burnt to provide explosions that propel the pistons and is transferred to the drive train. Other fuels will fit this definition, such as compressed natural gas, a compressed air engine under development in Japan, even diesel, but it is mostly used to describe those without a petroleum origin.
