  1. That's when you literally wipe out by:

    a) catching a wave too late, just as it is pitching over, and fall with it and get crushed to the bottom.

    b) when you fall in front of an arching wave and fall with it and get crushed to the bottom.

    c) when you misjudge the curl and the d**n thing spits you out lika a cannonball.


  2. The first answer is correct, but she makes it more complicated then it needs to be. Picture this: You're paddling for a wave and at the last second, you decide to puss-out and try to pull out instead ofgetting to your feet (take off). Instead of successfully not taking off, you successfully get your *** handed to you by being sucked down the face off the wave, with the lip resulting in pulverization. This unfortunate result of poor decision making largely resembles an object being taken "over the falls" of a river. See Niagra Falls.
