Question:

What does government mean to ?

With the elections going on this year, the Iraq war, gas increase prices, etc. I was wondering what you thought of the government...or what it IS to you.

When you hear the word government, what do you think of?

It could be good or bad, small or large.

And I guess also...how does the government affect you and your daily life?

Just pondering about these questions.

  1. MissLorax has no idea what she's talking about. Stereotyping (a horribly wrong one at that) someone isn't a good way to answer something.

I think the government is like a human being. Not perfect, it screws up a ton, but it can do some good things too. I think people are too cynical towards it, they think that it's out to get them for whatever reason. I guess they think they're special. It's definitely a necessary thing, but I don't think we should use it as a crutch for out problems. We as individuals need to be able to take care of ourselves to a certain extent, the government can only do so much without messing things up.

  2. Republicans - "I hate government, I want to represent myself and no one else. I want small government"

Democrats - "We don't mind helping our countrymen. Government should be bigger."

  3. When hear the word government, or think of it, I think that it's something that should be monitored very closely, for everyones protection... Sometimes to even save it from itself.

Government to me is a necessary evil that humanity must enjoy and tolerate. It should provide for basic liberties to it's citizens and make and enforce reasonable laws to keep innocent people secure and safe.

The US government affects me everyday in positive and negative ways. It provides roads that I can drive upon to go to work and support myself. It provides the structure for an economy (even though the Federal Reserve is unconstitutional) for me to buy my needs and wants. Alternatively, when I get pulled over by a Police Officer and issued a citation for failure to wear my seatbelt, I am negatively affected by this unnecessary law.

  4. i don't trust the government too much but in 5 months i'll be working for them! they take care of me if i take care of them. i think government is a complex structure designed to bring order to people. our government isn't the best or the most perfect in the world but it has lasted us until today

  5. insidious (deceitful)

  6. the U.S government was founded on the principles of 'by the people, for the people', but today its turned in 'by the corporations for the corporations'
