  1. it can be a number of things. You can have an infection or inflammation of the pancreas. Usually your triglycerides would also be very high.

What is more likely is that your are becoming insulin resistant. so your body produces more insulin (insulin helps force sugar, energy, into your cells). Eventually you burnout your insulin production and become and insulin dependent diabetic (Type 1). by being insulin resistant you are more likely to become a type II diabetic, you still make insulin but it can't be used correctly. All kinds of damage to your body results.

None of this a an emergency, wait for the next blood test.

What lowers insulin ressitance is exercise and al ow carb diet, neither of which will hurt you if the lab just made an error.

  2. Insulin is used to get sugar in your cells for energy.  But you don't want all the sugar to go in the cells or you could go into a coma.  So if you have a lot of insulin then you may be putting too much in the cells, but not enough to be a problem right now.  The only thing you can do is try to eat enough carbs, like if you feel tremors, sweaty palms, nervousness, intense hunger, try to eat something sweet
