Question:

What does history tell us about far away nations trying to permanently occupy distant lands??

and defeat and people that refuse to be defeated?

Does it say that in the great majority of cases..almost always...the invaders are eventually repelled and the people of the land win out????

It tells us that the invaders end up being very disliked by the general population.  America occupies Germany since WW2 and the Germans are not very fond of the occupiers(even though they do treat Americans nice on an individual basis).  So I think that eventually the people of Iraq will start to dislike Americans...........

Nope.  The US was created by a far away nation conqureing the native people.  The conquerors decided to repel the leaders they suffered.  Australia is another case of the invaders winning.  Only in recent history have the invaders been spanked like bad puppies and sent home with their tails between thier legs.
