  1. it means you are at your home page.

  2. A "home page" represents the page that appears when you first start your web browser (IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.). You can think of it as your "home base" on the internet.

So if you always want to start with Yahoo! as your home page, you can set up your browser options to use www.yahoo.com as your home page. Your home page is also the page you go to when you click on the "house" icon on your browser.

In many browsers, the home page can also be set to a "blank page". This speeds up the browser during initial startup (since it doesn't need to go to the internet and actually load a page) and may be an acceptable option if you don't know what page you want to use as your home page. Of course you can always easily change your home page option at any time through your browser's option/preference menu.

  3. A web site's "home page" is the main page, kind of a combination between the front cover of a book and the table of contents. Web pages work differently than books in that they are not necessarily sequential. You can go from one page to a page that would be in the back of a physical book with one click.

Think of a "home page" as an introduction to what the web site is about and a map to the web site. You can also think of it like meeting a person for the first time. You can see them and tell some things just from that, they tell you a few things about themselves, and you an also ask questions about them, kind of like when you click choices on a home page and get to see more (another page) in the web site.
