in apartment ads, it says

from $799 incl

whta does incl mean? including heat and hydro? or is that seperate?

  1. "Incl" meets "inclusive".  In the context of a rental unit advertisement, it would mean "inclusive of utilities and/or services".

    For instance, if the rent on an apartment in Ottawa was "$799 incl", the $799 rent would most likely include the cost of heat, lights, supplied water.  Depending on the type of rental, the price may also include other services such as local telephone service and/or internet and/or cable TV and/or housekeeping services (cleaning), etc.

    Once you know the rent is "$799 incl", you next question to the prospective landlord should be, "So what exactly is included in the rent?"
