Hitting a child only shows you how weak you are. Explaining and talking to them must be the day.

the Quran doesn't say anything about this matter. the hadith mentions this but you're not allowed to hit excessively and only if you teach them to pray by the age of 7 and if they leave it off at the age of 10 is when you hit them to discipline them.

No. Islam teaches to stay away from harmful acts.

Especially hitting a defenseless child.

no you are never supose to hit. teach them that things are wrong, but dont hit.
