by living my dream i would hurt others. is that right?

How would you hurt others?

Human beings are complicated creatures - you can hurt them just by hurting their feelings. Even your closest friends may be reluctant to support you in the pursuit of your dream. Nominally, this is to protect you in case you don't make it or the odds are insurmountable.

But it could well be that in making your dream real you change as a person enough to materially change your relationship. Or even outgrow them completely. This is then a test of their character and I myself could be found wanting in this instance.

So hurting someone else's feeling indirectly in living your dream could be acceptable. Physically hurting others directly cannot be.

One different between us and animals is that animals live as they should to live, but  we dream and we work and try to make our dreams come true. So we all want to live the life as we dream about it. We can make some of our dreams while we keep trying to let others come true. And that is doesn't mean that we have to ignore others. Our dreams must stop if they may be cause harm to others. We have to try to life the life as we want not as we should but when what we want doesn't mean to ignore the world around us.

Obviously more than I'm able to afford as I've spent a life time chasing my dream but never quite catching up to it..    I think that if the race ends and I'm finally face to face with my dream I may find it difficult to embrace after all these years of living on the "Fly".   Will the dream really be worth it??    Was it the chase, the pursuit that was really my life and the dream simply a carrot to keep me in the hunt?

I think this is not the right way to look at it. If anyone feels hurt due to my own dreams, and my dream is nothing illegal or immoral, then I am perfectly entitled to go ahead with my own dream and it is for the other person to find ways to reconcile. Yes, sometimes a person very close to me may be affected by my pursuit of dream, but what is the point of being close if it is going to obstruct the dream? Our dreams are the MOST important part of our life which neither ourselves not anyone who cares for us should ever try to scuttle or reject. The high importance also implies that no cost can be too much for the right dream.

Great question that brings a dilemma into focus!! Hope my answer is reasonable.

Can i ask what is there to be hurted on everyone where i am trying to make a better living by reality the dream which i created. Take an example of the invention of Mp3 harddisk player. Hurt anyone yet? imao. only stealing of someone's dream is hurting someone's happiness. Agree?

This is wonderful to dream. It is fortunate to be able to dream. Life would be nothing without our dreams, simply nothing. In our dreams are possibilities of new worlds, as our dreams are the places where new realities are born. Without our dreams of life, we would be like people stuck in a broken elevator, dangling somewhere in the shaft, or we would be like sardines packed within our ever-shrinking sense of space.

There would be nothing to look forward to in life without our dreams. There would be nothing to imagine, to hope for or to celebrate. How would we bear the monotonous grind of a flat and ungainly life without having a hope of a change or improvement?

The doors of our perception are open all the time to a world of dream. And through these doors new thoughts and new ideas enter into our mind enabling life to be a whole lot more than merely a code book of morality, customs, principles, laws and regulations.

This is highly commendable in a person to think about others while indulging in fulfilling your dreams, but quite often with such thought also become causes of failure in life that we might have a natural capacity for. We can be restrictive for our own self. I know that I have my dreams, and I am sure other people have them too. Then if dreams are all too common in our mind then what could be dreams be for if not for the purpose of creating a better and wonderful world for ourselves and for the people who we like to share that world with. I therefore believe true dreams are not dreamt to cause hurt to other people, and they are not realised at the expense of someone else. True dream make a life better, bigger and brighter for many to benefit.

If all that I have said above were not true than we would not have seen great people through their dreams making the world a better place, doing great things along the way, becoming source of inspiration and hope for many, with the light of their dreams causing illumination in the minds. We all have our simple dreams that we nourish and nurture with our efforts and care.

Within the reality of mind we have our natural desires, our fears and apprehensions, and our limitations of ability and understanding. Our desires could be restrictive in the way of fulfilment of our dreams, our apprehensions of self-doubt and fear debilitating to our aspiring, hopeful and ambitious mind, our knowledge and our abilities so far could be too limitative, but then there is nothing in the world that could pull us along, that could motivate us, inspire us, and show us the way through except the light and power of our dreams.

Some dream cost us our sense of reality, nobility of mind, and purity of heart. As where there are good dream there are also bad dreams. Dream do not cost us anything while we are dreaming, but they cost us everything for their realisation, but there is nothing more valuable in the world than the reality of a good dream.

of course we cannot avoid hurting people (emotionally) from time to time, you cant please everyone, as they say. so if you mean your dream is to go live on a desert island for instance, which would involve leaving family and friends behind and subsequently hurt them by doing so, then i say you should do whats best for you.

i would love to emigrate to canada but i cant bring myself to leave my parents, they have noone else to look after them and they are both elderly and not in great health.  am i right to give up my dream?  i dont know.  but since i would feel too guilty to go then i say yes i am right.  so i have made another dream.

life is not a rehearsal,wether we get one shot or many, we must live and learn and do the most we can to reach our dreams and the best we can for those we love. sometimes its simply a case of survival.

You should avoid hurting others at all costs.  It's simply not good karma to hurt anything  or anyone for any reason. I would call that selfishness which exists far too much in this modern culture of ours. Maybe you should rethink your dream so you can sleep at night in the future without bad feelings about the hurt you created for the wrong reasons.

There is always someone who thinks you ought to be doing things you aren't doing or observing one protocol or another. The disapproval is often tacit but nevertheless hangs in the air like a wet blanket. We can not please all people all the time and attempting to do so robs us our existence. I do not go out of my way to hurt anyone but I am aware some people may take offense anyway. There is not much I can do about that.The offended party can choose to walk away from me or I from them depending - agree to disagree and move on. We only get one life and it is illogical to live it for another whose demands on us is insatiable. Doing what we want gives us freedom, purpose and a feeling of achievement while doing what we should limits, binds and implies duty to another. We can only find fulfillment doing what we should if that is what we want - to do what we should.
