What does it cost to have a home a/c unit, compressor replaced ,4 ton carrier?

last time I did one I charged 1500 labor, 490 for the AC unit, and 120 for the compressor.  I worked a 5 ton unit, but when you're talking residential it's not a lot of difference.

Most newer a/c condensers have a 10 year warranty on the compressor. You would have to pay for freon filters and labor to change the bad compressor. This should not be more that 500-750 dollars. Now if the compressor is out of warranty that you might be better off with a new condenser

That $2800 figure should be close. Just had a 3 ton outside unit put in for $2000.

My A/C compressor went out a few months back.I had a York 4 ton.It was cheaper in the long run just to replace the comdenser.I think replacement would have been around 500 to 600 dollars when all said and done so bit the bullet and replaced the condenser.

The company I work for it costs about anywhere from $900 to $1200. If it is under warranty, it will be cheaper than that. If your unit is less than 5 years old than it should be under warranty. Good luck.
