What does it eman on here when you have a fan?

I just looked at my "fans" randomly and i have a couple people on here. What does having fans on here mean? Thanks.

Hello

While reading questions, as you 'hover' over each person's Avatar you'll see an option to 'Add to my contacts'.  This is how fans are created.  They will now see you as part of their network and easily see the questions you ask and answer. If ever you choose to make your network private fans can be allowed to continue viewing your progress while others will be blocked.
