I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 3. Right now I am 17 and I had neurosurgery last summer. Since then I haven't had any seizures.

I remember when I had a big episode of seizure, I first felt some good feeling as a warning then I felt as if I were stuck inside myself and something big took over my body. And when I had minor episodes, I felt like I lost control of what I was thinking and saying. I also remember that before I had seizures, I felt warnings and they made me feel like I was going up a roller coaster. Som eshort good feeling.

If you had a minor episode of seizure or grand episode of seizure, how would you describe the feeling of having the seizure?

  1. The "warning" you felt is what is called an aura.  It is the signals that your body is going to have a seizure soon.  Many people don't actually know they are havng seizures though, this is most common.  One minute they will be talking with someone or driving along and "go somewhere else".  When they "come back" most of the time they have no memory of the things that happened.  It's not the same for everyone though.

  2. get simple motor seizures and it feels like I'm a marionette - someone else is pulling strings and making my arms shake. My warning is usually a really spaced-out feeling, or a bad smell, like plastic, or a sound in my head. But I have also felt that wooops feeling in my stomach like I was going up a roller coaster. It was strange, but not bad. After the seizure I feel very mellow and lazy.

Congratulations on the success of your surgery!!

  3. First, congrats on being seizure free since your surgery last summer!

The "Good Feeling " is called an aura , and I had those also, my seizures were petit mal and would last for 3 to 5 seconds but would take me up to a minute to get back on track of what I was doing.

When taking the seizure, I had no idea of what I was doing until a witness to it told me. I know certain times I would be working with something and have the aura thinking the seizure was happening because of what I had in my hands. After the seizure was over, I soon realized my hands were empty and I threw what I had away from me.

It will be 10 yrs in November since my operation ,and I've been seizure free since having it done.

  4. i have had epilepsy for as long as i can remember but now that im older i dont get seizures as often. my episodes are pretty much the same as yours the only real difference is that the warning feeling isnt pleasent for me. it feels terrible. ive never really been able to explain it but its all most like a nervous painful feeling, definately not like going up a roller coaster.
