What does it feel like to shoot a gun?

A friend invited me to go shooting with him and his Dad. I have never touched a gun before. What is it like to shoot it? What should I expect?

I don't want to look like a fool and do something stupid. We are going to be using pistols and they are different sizes if that matters.

  1. It's like having two c*cks. If one of your c*cks could kill someone.

  2. The best feeling ever relax and do not worry. At the same time be careful when shooting large calibre pistols. Enjoy

  3. omg when you hold one (well when i did) i was like super scared .i didnt even wannto touch the trigger .or anything

but when i took the shoot omg it like pulled me back i coulnt keep balance. youl feel really weird.and the trigger is hard to like press.(trigger i mean the shooting button)

and the gun was like a black police gun real  everything . (i was just in like a contest i had to shoot the pink bunny but i lost cause every thing was moving to fast.(that was the first time i used a real gun i practiced with fake guns)

  4. after you fire it, the kick back in your hand depends upon the force of  bullet leaving the gun. try a 44 to see what i mean

  5. i'm sure they will show u how to use it they arent gonna have u go out there completly blind lol

but it feels amazing i absolutly luv it!!

  6. You know it's nothing to be ashamed of. You can be honest and just tell them and they will teach you what you need to know. But in answer different guns feel diifferent ways. Most handguns you have to use both hands to steady them. It is NOT like in the movies. Use common sense....don't point the gun at anything but the target. Point it at the ground and keep your finger off the trigger when not shooting. ASK questions. Most people who are involved with guns LOVE education. They will not mind showing you how it works and how to use it. I'm a gun lover with guns in the right hands. My dad had me shooting at a young age and education was the most important thing. I had to learn every part of the gun and all safety measures before he would let me touch anything. I hope that you have a good and safe time.

  7. ever shot a water gun? - nothing like that! lol

  8. Remember to keep the muzzle pointed down range and don't touch the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

Shooting safely is much MORE important than looking like an idiot.  If you don't know something (anything) just ask nicely and I am sure that they will help you.  If not, then they are people that you want to be shooting with.................

  9. kicks like a *****. brace for that recoil, but don't tense up. practice makes perfect. shooting kicks @ss! be safe!!!!!!!!

  10. let the dad teach you every precaution or don't shoot it.  you may hurt someone

  11. Depends. Handgun, rifle, or shotgun? I've fired just about every caliber handgun form .177 Crossmans to the .50AE Desert Eagle (I wouldn't suggest starting out with that one). .22LR handguns are a blast. Larger caliber semi-autos are a blast. Old military bolt-actions are a blast. Belt-fed M-60s are a blast.

Huh. Come to think of it, all firearms are a blast to shoot.

  12. It's ok to feel foolish, just ask questions.  Handling a gone properly is perhaps one of the most responsible things you can do, and when you learn to use it and respect it, you'll like it more and try to better the way you shoot.  It's just like any sport, you can get injured if you act stupid, so pay attention and ask questions, and relax, you'll have fun :-)

  13. It varies depending on the type of gun ...I own a Glock and P99 both have moderate kick back... it's a very powerful feeling... it's different with rifles, they're more powerful... pistols are easy ...go for it, it's fun!!

  14. Oh God. I'm not touching that one with a ten foot pole. I hate hate handguns.

  15. Um,

my step brother let me shoot his b-b gun once... um i'm really short so i like fell backwards. It's cool though.... i would have done it again... but my step- bro didn't trust me...

I'd like to point out that i hit the target in the dead centre

  16. feels really good

  17. Shooting is scary and exciting.  Here are some rules.

Never point the gun at anyone you don't intend to shoot.

Make sure the gun is unloaded every time you put it down or hand it to someone else.

Cover your ears and eyes.  (A friend of mine lost much of her hearing when she didn't cover her ears.)

Follow all the shooting range rules.

Pay close attention to all the instructions.

Don't do anything with the weapon unsupervised until you are proficient.

And have fun.  Because it is fun.

  18. Donot worry about your friend, they will show you what to do, and it feels a lil vibrating like hitting something metal with something hard and solid...If that makes sense to you.

  19. It feels a little like hitting a wooden post with an aluminum bat.

It vibrates a little up your arm but not too bad.

It depends on the size of the gun of course.

The main thing is to make sure you are balanced and you keep your arm straight. And most of all make sure you have your ears protected.

The first time I went I used the little foam things you put in your ears.

I couldn't hear for 2 hours after shooting.

Use the over-the-ear protection and keep it on!

I'm not even going to say the obvious "don't point the gun at something unless you intend to shoot it" c**p.

I'm sure 50 other people will

  20. im sorry i dont know much about that stuff but dont shoot any animals :[

  21. take it from a country boy, shooting is awesome. there is nothing like pulling that trigger, feeling the kick, seeing your target fall. but with great power comes great responsibility... never put your finger on the trigger till you are absolutely ready to fire. never point the gun at anything you don't want to shoot. as far as looking dumb don't worry everyone has a first time. let them know your new to it. they should be good about it and start you out small like with a .22 if you ask if you want to shoot a .50cal or a .44mag first tell them to start you out smaller. but you should go i love shooting. my wife and i go on saturdays

  22. OUCH!

  23. It feels pretty d**n good.  Just dont aim at anything important like the  targets.

  24. The first thing you will notice is the pull back. make sure you have a firm grip because the gun will kick and you may get hurt. but all in all its fun and you should be fine.

  25. it's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! don't worry, they will show you...everyone has to be a newbie at...they'll be patient with you

  26. Its actually quite easy. I enjoy shooting guns, its simple, especially with the pistol. Some weapons tend to veer off from the aiming mark, or cross hairs. Though some pistols are very powerful, most tend to have a light recoil (in my opinion), and easily aim.

  27. try it urself at lazer kingdom :)

  28. Just make sure his dad knows you have never fired a gun. That way he will take the time to show you the safe and proper way to handle and fire it. It's fun to target practice. Good luck, I think you will enjoy the experience.

  29. hmmm, maybe u should start out with a 22 or something..... if using something bigger, just make sure your prepared for the recoil.
