I am now 33 weeks pregnant (yay), and have been hearing a lot about when the baby drops. Is this a gradual process or something you can feel right away?

  1. YAY Congrats!! I didn't drop (even though i thought i did as i was going to the toilet every 5 mins and my tummy looked lower) i ended up being induced so i never got the drop. Some people never drop others will wake up and just drop or it may happen slowly you will know as there will be increased pressure down there and your tummy looks lower. Good luck with that bub of yours, not long until you get to meet them!

  2. its gradual but you usually feel more pelvic pressure

  3. I never felt a drop - but with my first baby I did wake up one morning and the bump had definitely dropped down. (Labour started the day after)

  4. My baby hasn't dropped much either, I have a c section on tuesday, but when she did drop  little i noticed it because when i would sit i would feel more pressure on my lap, almost like a brick was sitting on it. On things people mistaken is they think you have to drop in order to dilate or water break or to go into labor and this is not true.

  5. I will tell you this.. By the time I reached my 7th month I could not breathe to save my life, especially when I layed down. I had no appetite b/c the baby was so high that he was pushing on my belly.. one day I woke up and it was all better, literally over night. I'm now 39 weeks.. you can't see that much of a physical change but I feel so much better. I can breathe perfectly fine and my appetite is back with less heartburn. Of course I have to pee even more and feel lots of pressure but I'd take that over not being able to breathe any day!!! ;)

  6. I am almost 37 weeks and for the past week I have felt more pressure in my lower back and pelvis.  I thought that my belly looked lower, but my aunt confirmed it when she saw me today and exclaimed, "WOW, you dropped!"  My baby is a big baby as I have gestational diabetes so it may be a little more pronounced then some other people.

From what I have read (and been told) you will notice a change in your appetite as the baby will not be putting as much pressure on your stomach, as well as a possible decrease in heartburn.  You will also notice yourself going to the bathroom more often and will feel pressure in your pubic area.  Everyone is different though!  Good luck!!!!!
