After about 4 hours when you take out the tampon, what is it supposed to look like?

Sorry this is my first time using a tampon and I thought it was leaking. But when it came out it looked the same as when i put it in, except it was red and it didn't look fully absorbed. And is the tampon suppose to be expanded? Because mine wasn't.

  1. urs was normal and no some dont expand

  2. it should be a little more saturated and should expand a little more so try switching absorbancies or leave it in for a little longer, but NOT MORE THAN 8 HOURS!!

  3. Okay, all tampons I'm sure look different on everyone.  First of all, it depends on how heavy you are flowing.  If you are flowing very heavy, the tampon will be very red & bloody which of course is what you want because you know then that it's working.  Secondly, it depends on the type and absorbency of the tampon as to whether it will expand or not.  Some tampons are made to expand & others are just straight up and down.  Whatever you do, stay away from "Pearl" tampons because they have to many discrepancies and problems that still haven't been corrected.  Personally, I use tampons with plastic applicators like KOTEX, Tampax or Playtex, because they seem to be more comfortable and easier to insert.  Also, sometimes depending on how heavy you are, you may want to wear a pantyliner also because it should catch anything that leaks while wearing the tampon on heavier days.

Hope this helps and happy flowing...  :-)

  4. nope, it shouldn't be expanded it should just look like it's stained.

  5. with blood on it they don't in water they do. if it isn't fully absorbed don't worry about it. its an as needed but no longer than 8 hour type thing

  6. yes...everything you said...every body's cycle flow is different. from light to heavy. u may have had a light to medium flow that day.

  7. Don't they expand when they are wet? like if you put one under the faucet it expands. maybe once you take it out it closes.

  8. mine isn't ever really expanded either, there probably just isn't room to expand and it just stays closed up, how you explained is how mine is

  9. Yes what youu jus described is normal...thats how its supposed to look && it does expand when its inside of youu..but it goes back to a normal shape because it has too come out. so thee tampon goes back to its original shape in order for it to come out

  10. well they can be in for eight hours unless you go in water then you have to take it out.  It has blood and it a little squished and smaller then when you put it in.

  11. No. It does not look expanded. You know it is time to change it if it comes out red rather than mostly white.

  12. Sometimes they look "shrunken" and depending on your flow, it would be blood stained.

PS, don't sleep with a tampon in!

  13. Gross and disgusting content
