Alright, the world is based around money and people live to show off their posessions(i.e. house, jewelry, cars). Does it really matter what we have now when we're going to just leave it behind when we die? What's your opinion?

  1. Store not those things of this world for you cannot deliver them unto heaven. Good advice. If you inherit them then enjoy them for they are your estate, but if you must earn them, then enjoy them as you gain them, then set them aside. For if you store them up, you will always be fearful of losing them and your life will suffer because of it. And if you do lose them, then you will be sorrowful because of it and that also will cause your life to suffer for you will always seek to regain that which you have lost and that may not within your power.

  2. Although we dont need most of our 'things' in our life to survive, our 'things' really do help us to learn what is important in our lives. Through 'things' you meet other people and go through certain events and learn from everyone and everything.

When we do eventually leave it all behind, if we muster the courage to wrap our minds around the thought that we grew as a person simply because we learned from our things- and other peoples things, we can attribute our knowledge to them in some slight fashion.

Things affect our everyday lives and we learn most of our internal lessons because of them.

Everything material in life is a thing.

  3. why not enjoy them while were here as long as were not greedy or selfish

  4. It only matters to us, and only while we live. Don't know why. I think we all like to kid ourselves about these things, so we don't actually have to think about the things that really matter, because it's harder to know what they are.

  5. The world isn't actually based around money, etc. it's based around cycles, water, air, rotating around the sun. after you die everything is left behind. why even live?

  6. For many, it's about the comfort. For most, it's about the fear. And they would fear to admit it so go ahead and click that thumbs down button you frightened people!

  7. i ask myself " does this have any eternal value?". if the answer is no then that puts things into perpective for me.

  8. in short, things don't matter. Life, however, is boring without distractions. Thats what possession provide for. However, they also provide for war. There's always a caveat.

  9. Yes, you could extoll the virtues of poverty, live in a cave, and eat grubs and berrries, but that would be like getting a head start on being dead. I'd rather have a lot of stuff and show off: Only living people can do that.

  10. Because we don't know for sure if we'll ever die and leave it all behind.

  11. I come from a family who is all about heritage and the family name.  So in my book, it is important to continue to build on the family structure, and some of that can be related to monetary or physical possessions.  How lovely would it be to have created a family system that would make life easier for my children and there children to come.  Many people do not really care what happens when they are gone, and in general I do not either, with the exception of my family.  I want ot leave something behind ( besides my heirs ) that will be of value to my family and help simplify there existence in an ever degrading world/society.  Not saying I don't think about myself, but I definitely want to leave something behind.

  12. life has no meaning... in the long run that is. The short term is quit different.

  13. I work hard to buy things because I enjoy them, or my family does. I dont buy things to impress someone else. I dont care what someone else thinks. You have to be happy with yourself, all the money, jewelry etc arent going to make you happy until you are happy with yourself...then the rest is just icing on the cake
