What does it mean, if someone 'doesn't burn bridges, but doesn't mend fences, either'?

  1. it means that this person is neither bad nor good.


  2. Burning bridges refers to people that do things wrong with out thinking about whether or not they'll need the person, place or thing again. Example: Quitting a job without notice, this would be burning a bridge because what if you need to come back to that company one day and ask for a job, you wont be condsidered a rehire because you didnt leave a notice. and mending fences means saying sorry or going out of your way to make things right...

    So someone that doesnt burn bridges but doesnt mend fences is someone that doesnt do people wrong but doesnt go out of their way to make someone happy either.
