4 year sandwich: you do one year at a placement and the other 3 academic study. Alternatively, you could also research the course you are doing to find out more

Normally it means you do your first two years at uni and then spend a year working in industry before going back to uni for your final year.

It's quite a good option because you get relevant experience and you get paid for your year in industry.

I knew someone who did his placement year in a brewery. The brewery owned a house so placement students had no problem finding accommodation (nice place too) and he got to buy beer at a big discount.
