What does it mean? Air in your brain???

A friend felt prety bad and hit his had. The nurse said that he has air in his brain. What the... does that mean???? How serious is it. She wasnt to concerned about it. Maybe it's normal for her to see people with this condition, but it sound serious to me.

  1. Air in your brain is a real condition.  It is called pneumocephalus, and can happen after a skull fracture when air enters the skull vault.  The condition is managed medically by monitoring and occasionally medications to help if there is increased pressure in the brain.  It can be serious, bu tmost people recover with no side effects.


  2. I'm not sure that you can have air in your brain from a hit to the head. Now, blood, yes. Air, no. Was she calling your friend an "air head"?
