Tiger Woods says his clubs have golf pride grips installed logos down, have d4 swingwieghts and are "tipped one inch." He has played them to the same specs since he was 14. What does this mean? Tipped one inch???

  2. The tip of the shaft is cut one inch before building the club.

Being tipped one inch does NOT necessarily mean that the club is 1" under standard.  Depending on the shaft, it can be tipped and then also cut to standard length.

  3. I'm guessing either extended the shaft by an inch OR cut the shaft by an inch..

"Tipping" a shaft makes it extra stiff....that's what Tiger is saying, that he's swinging an XX-Stiff shaft...

  5. He is saying his club length is -1" under standard, this not only shortens the club but also moves the flexpoint of the shaft.  If you go get professionally fitted for a set of clubs, the fitter will have your clubs customized like this by adjusting lie, loft, shaft length, shaft stiffness, and which shaft/clubhead combo works best for your swing.
