  1. No, it probably means the manufacturer of the packaging is being thoughtless. There are very few materials that cannot be recycled one way or another. If they can be sorted almost all plastics are recyclable - although not necessarily economically at the moment.

The inclusion of recycling symbols (in the UK at least) is completely optional. I personally believe that such symbols should be mandatory. If an item is completely non-recyclable it should be marked with a suitable symbol.

  2. Depends on the type of container... some plastics aren't recyclable.  All aluminum containers are.

  3. I think it means it is unfortunately non-recyclable.

I think more should be done to promote recycling.

Make sure you buy products that come in recyclable materials. Best wishes :-)

  4. It means nothing. Assuming the item is plastic, you expect to see a number. However, small parts are exempt from having to be marked with a number.

  5. it means when it was manufactured no recycling symbol or number was put on it.

  6. I haven't figured out the answer to your question, but there is an interesting site you may want to check out.  Here is the link to their explanations of recycle symbols.  Maybe you can ask their memebers your question.

    Good luck
