What does it mean if a man has bad smell in his urine?

My husband has been getting bad and strong smell in his urine since from the past 3,4 months and since yesterday he got mild pain and some swelling in it.what does this mean?he is 28 now.. please help me.

A smell or cloudiness in the urine is an indicator that there is an infection somewhere in your body and not necessarily in the bladder or urinary tract. Also, some foods will make it smell also. Asparagus is the worst thing for making urine smell badly.

The pain and swelling may or MAY NOT be related to the smell problem. He should probably just go and get checked out by your doctor.

it could be an STD, some bacteria in his bladder, or he could just be eating things that are known to make urine smell like asparagus.

More than likely it's a UTI.      Anyone, female or male can get a urinary infection, and he should be checked for this, and you may also have one.      You mentioned ".... some pain and swelling in it.."

You didn't mention what "it" is.     The p***s, the prostate, the bladder, the s*****m?      He needs to see a doctor.    The doctor will probably do a culture to determine what bacteria are involved and then prescribe the medication to deal with this.

Don't wait to get him to the doctor.    Urinary infections left untreated can travel up into the kidneys and cause major problems.

maybe he is not drinking enough water to flush out toxins, depending on what he eats, and if he drinks things like beer, alcohol ect..

Either a urine infection, or bladder infection is what it sounds like to me....Or you might want to go get checked for chlamydia.  At least if you get checked then you will be able to tell him what he has.
