What does it mean if a principal is going to check you're record?

They are going to check your records which were sent over from the previous school you attended. Anytime you transfer schools, your attendance, grades, write-ups (detentions,etc.) get sent over your new school. They also include your schedule, which classes you were placed in (honors, remedial, etc.) and if you have an IEP (basic skills, learning disability, etc.) That's why it's very important to maintain a clean record. Our past has a way of catching up with us.

Since you are starting at a new school, she needs to see what kind of student you were and what you took at your old school, so that you can be put into the right classes.  For example, if you said you wanted to be in honors classes, they need to know that you were in honors classes at your old school, or at least that you got A's at the next level down, so that they don't put you into something for which you are unqualified.

It just means they are going to see how you are doing academically and behaviorally.  They want to make sure you are  on the right level.

At my school we check records to match you to the best classes. What classes have you already had and what do you need next. I would also be looking to see if you have any special needs. Did you get a C in Math and As in all the other classes. Then I would place you with my best math teacher. Things like that.
