What does it mean if there is an area under my jawline that is sore/hurts but only if I press on it?

Just under the right side of my jawline, if I push in on the skin it is sore and the harder I push the sorer it becomes. It's not really painful and I can't feel it unless I push on it. There is no lump or visible sign of the area being any different from the rest of my neck.

Is it my lymph node? Wisdom teeth? Possibly cancer?

  1. Wisdom teeth can cause problems such as this, I went through something similar.  The rate of people who have to have their wisdom teeth out is very high, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is your problem.  I highly doubt it is cancer.

See your doctor first before you start thinking of scary things like cancer, being stressed and anxious will only make matters worse.  It is probably something small and easily treated :)

  2. You could have a tooth that is becoming infected.  Have you looked in your mouth to see if your gums are red and swollen?  If a knot appears or is felt, then you need to see your dentist or your physician ASAP.

  3. I would bet that it is a sinus infection. If was your wisdom teeth your teeth would hurt not just your Jaw.
