  1. It means, due to genetics, that your joints are extremely open and allow for, what is called, a GREATER range of motion.  It is not bad.

The name, "double jointed", is an inappropriate term.

  2. Double-jointed: Popular term to describe a joint that is unusually flexible. Medically, the joint is said to be hyperflexible, hyperextensible, or hypermobile. People whose fingers are hypermobile have higher rates of arthritis in the hands.http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art....

  3. Nothing - except you can gross people out when you feel like it.

Basically some of you joints bend the "wrong" direction farther than "normal".

Some people think that it is gross, other people find it amazing or humorous.
