What does it mean to awaken a guy's love?

In the bible it says "Don't awaken his love before his time".

What does that mean? Does it mean sexually or romantically? Does it mean don't sleep with a guy before you marry him?

I have no clue what this phrase means and I want to find out because I don't want to awaken a guy's love before his time. Whatever that means.

I don't know about the Bible, so I will just answer the very first Q.

It means...he is just living his life, with no particular thoughts about love, not looking for love, not trying to find love and....you turn his head, you make him breathe, you make him wonder, you make him happy, you make him believe you are what was missing when he thought he wasn't missing a thing.

i think you can totally take it metaphorically as a multitude of scenarios.  we can be crass and say it means we want it to last longer so stop moving.  we can be biological and say to wait till the man is mature enough to handle the relationship.  

by the way, it should say in the bible "Don't awaken his love before HER TIME has been awakened first."

Actually, it's not "his" in the original. I think we can all see why it's there now, though--it's an extension of the idea guys just can't control themselves and so the girl has to be the responsible one.

I found a site that said since it was written in a time when arranged marriages took place and love matches usually did not, it probably means you both learn to care for and trust each other and not try to rush things. This doesn't make sense to me since Jewish couples at the time this was written had to have s*x on the first night of the marriage.

I would throw the "his" out in both parts, which is how it was originally translated, and call it "don't try to rush things if you're not sure you're in love."
