Ok so my mom said i was acting like a smart *** on the phone with some retarded girl that called for a stupid reason n well i told my mom what happened and she said that i was acting like a smart *** but i really didn't get her but yea i don't get it any help??

It means to be sarcastic in a mean way. To be a "smartypants".

it's a derivation of the original term  'smart alec' and there is disageement amongst scholars as to who the original smart alec was.
