  1. It means that you are legally here in the United States but are not a citizen, meaning that you weren't born here, but after you live here for like 5 years you're eligible to become a citizen

  2. Yes. Due to you being in the US on a VISA, you are a legal resident. I believe that when you get your Green Card, you will not have to leave at the time your Visa expires.

Even when you get your green card, there will still be things that you cannot do, such as vote. To vote, you must be a US Citizen.

  3. Even when you get your green card,  you will still not be a US citizen though you can be a legal resident.  Being a US citizen has to do with naturalization.  There are tests  you study for and pass and a certain time of living here in the US to become an American citizen, but you would be a legal resident during that time period.  If the marriage ended, your status could change if you were still not an American citizen and you could lose the right to be a resident.  However, if  you were an American citizen, through naturalization, it would not matter what happened to the marriage, you would still be a resident as well as American - full fledged.    You can be a legal resident in many ways - temporary - with student green card, working green card, or being married to US Citizen and being granted legal resident status, but none of those give  you rights as an American citizen. That comes through the naturalization process when you take tests and swear allegiance to the US.

  4. It means you're not a citizen, so you can't vote and you don't pay taxes, but you're allowed to live here legally because you followed the proper procedures for doing so.

  5. What do you mean by green card, but those things take so little? did you get it or not?

  6. you are NOT a US citizen, but since you have a visa, you have temp. proof to legally abide by our law

  7. yes.

you can legally live in the US.

but you do not have the rights that a citizen has, like voting untill you get you green card.
