What does it mean to be called "Green" on a film set? is it aperson with no experience?

i had an opportunity to work on a set, but i was referred to as a "little green"...I have an idea, Im thinking its a person with little to no experience...is this correct?

  2. Yep, that was the general description of that term, everywhere, not just on film sets, until all this 'go green' envirocrap got so popular.

    It means not very experienced, as in; green = new.

    By the way, there are books (and websites) where you can learn all the jargon, so you don't appear so 'green'.

    Like, if someone asks you to grab  C-stand, or a spreader, or an Inky, you know what they're talking about.
