I'm a Sayed, my parents are both Sayed sooo what does that mean?? I know I'm a descendant of Prophet Mohammad pbuh but what else does it mean? Cause like in our culture people from other tribes or whatever you wanna call it respect Sayeds more and treat them differently sort of... like people try hard not hurt or azar them cause it's a sin? Like there's this really old guy my dad wanted to kiss his hands cause he came from Hajj and the guy wouldn't let him. I dunno can someone explain it to me?

r u guys talking about like

    sunni

shia and stuff cuz those r the only things i no...

even though i go to an islamic school they dont teach us about tribes...

it would be nice if u can answer me after u get ur answer :)

  3. You're an Afgani descendent of Muhammad pbuh?

  4. It really does not mean much.

The Rawaafidh try to make it seem like it's everything in this world.

  5. Yeah I have heard this sayed thing a lot,People should be judged by their deeds.

  6. well thats pretty much it...Syeds are descendant of Mohammad (PBUH).....and people should respect Syeds for this cause...hye but only for their deeds...not just because they were born Syed....i am a syed and if i dont act like one then i dont deserve the kind of respect.  So only because a person is a born Syed doesn't make him/her superior to muslims around the world......

also, for people that doubt and believe that too many people claim of being Syeds and its hard to judge who really is and who isn't....i would like to tell you guys that eveyone who claims to be a syed usually has a family book that lists their grand father, great grand father, and so on....and the list goes up to Prophet Muhammed (saww) being the very first person to begin with.....so the book is pretty much enough to judge who is a real Syed and who isn't....

  7. honestly sister I do not think there is a lot of validity in this because it is difficult to confirm whether or not it is true.  If you notice, most of the Arab leaders claim also to be descendants of the Prophet saws as well as a great number of people from other places.  I do not know its origin, but I think it is too widespread among too many people to actually be true for every single persopn who claims it.

  8. OMG. I asked the exact same question the other day. My parents are both sayyid. We have this tradition that sayyids only marry sayyids, and they're treated more respectfully.

I COMPLETELY disagree with the whole concept. We are dscendants of the Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him) but we should ONLy be judged by our deeds, and not by our lineage.
