  1. Cut - Highlight and "cut" the item you highlighted and removing it from one part of a document

Copy - Highlighting the item and making a copy of it, leaving the original where it is at in the document

Paste - Putting the item that you either cut or copied and placing it into another part of the document.  Basically moving from one point to another.

  2. ilike...'s response is pretty good, except that instead of registry he should have said clipboard.

Select text, an image, or whatever, using the mouse and the mouse buttons.

Copy places a copy in the clipboard, leaving the original.

Cut places a copy in the clipboard, removing the original.

Paste inserts whatever is in the clipboard into the insertion point in the file.

  3. Cut is when something is selected, copied, and then removed.

Copy is when something is selected, copied, but stays there.

Paste is when something that has been cut/copied is readded.

They are performed by use of the registry. When you copy/cut a certain value is added to the registry, and when you paste, that value is sent out.

If you can't find it in these, it doesn't exist.
