What does it mean to do a "recovery" in Cross Country running?

i have xc tomorrow and i was wondering what a recovery is. we are running for sure because it says that recoveries have to be within 9:30-10 min per mile. soo..... what is a recovery?!

  1. Recovery means different things. In an interval workout, it usually means rest between bouts. like if you are doing a O2 workout of 800s in 4:00, they would say take equal recovery, so you do an 800, in 4:00 and walk jog or stand still for the 4:00 reconvery, while your pulse goes down.


  2. Its a run at a much slower than race pace... a nice easy run that will not tax the body any more but instead will help with blood flow and loosen up the muscles some after a breakthrough workout.

  3. a slow run..like a jog..so you'll be doing about 10 min a mile pace for a set amount of time

  4. A recovery is a slow paced run that helps your muscles recover from a hard run.

  5. a recovery is pretty much a slow cool off run, done after a 5k and above run.
