Question:

What does it mean to dream of driving into flood water?

My daughter was in the back seat and my grandmother was in the passenger seat. I turned down the street and it was flooded. I veered to the left to go back onto higher ground, which was completely dry, however, I ended up getting deeper into the water. When I tried to drive up an incline, my truck flipped and my daughter screamed. The water began to come into the truck and I believe we were upside down. I remember feeling guilty because my grandmother just completed chemo (in real life) and survived and I was going to be responsible for her death.

  1. Your vehicle represents your life.  The fact that you are driving does mean that you are in control.  Likely, your grandmother and your daughter, as passengers, are dependent on your.

For your grandmother to be in the passenger seat MAY indicate that you have put your daughter "in the back seat" for awhile (or in another cliche - on the back burner, though this would make ridiculous imagery!) because your grandmother has been needing so much of your itme and attention.

To turn onto a flooded street means your life has taken a turn for the worse in some way.  You have run into circumstances that are overwhelming.  You try to back up and get out, but aparently you were already "in"  to the point that this was impossible.  These circumstances may represent financial commitments, responsibilities, and other things that pull on your, dragging you in to the point you cannot control it.  The pressure of these factors in your life have left you feeling "upside down".. like the world, or your life is upside down.

It is impacting your daughter to the point she is stressed and afraid.  She most likely feels left out and abandoned, especially if she is a child or teenager.  It is SO hard to be a parent with more going on that you can possibly handle.  When it is self created, you might can back your way out, but sometimes it's hard because the commitments we've made are not easily dissolved.  Other times, emergencies, illness, and other things beyond our control put us in to the overwhelming "flood".

Whatever is going on in your life, it is impacting you, your daughter and your grandmother.

Pray for wisdom.  If there is anything that is not completely essential, consider letting it go.  Find ways to conserve your energy if at all possible.  Simplify, simplify, simplify.  I know this may be easier said than done, but dreams like this are often a "wake up call" that we live to regret not heeding.

So, whatever else is tugging on you, taking some time to pray and prioritize and ruthlessly CUT back on the demands life is making on you right now is vital.  Perhaps you can include your daughter and your grandmother in this decision making process, but do spend some time praying and thinking alone before you talk to them about it.

Don't delay.  The well being of at least 3 precious people depends on it.  (Yes, you count, too, Mom!)

    God bless you,

    Fairelight

  2. I think there is something going on in your life where you are trying to steer away from danger but you cant seem to get away. And soon you will lose someone in your life who's very close and feel guilty about it. It will most likely be someone you least expect.
