What does it mean to drink your pride??

what does it mean to drink your pride??.....in a hootie and the blowfish sonf there is a line saying...what else can it be except this pride im sick of drinking.....what does he mean by it??

It means like swallow your pride, or let your pride go and just do something.

Like, I have to drink or swallow my pride to ask for help sometimes, because I don't want to rely on other people. But, if it's for the good of my family or myself to ask for help, then I need to do it and not let my pride get in the way.

It could be a double entendre ~ there's an expression to 'swallow your pride'

So it could mean that he's sick of swallowing his pride & is drinking to assuage/drown his feelings about having to do this.

May not be correct.....just a thought on it though.
