  1. Its when you hit the ball off the edge of the fairway and you wind up in the deeper grass.... the rough stuff... time to get your pitching wedge out even if you are 200 yards from the cup!

  2. a ball or other wise known as a sphere wether placed there or any other thing ends up in something rough I.E. sand paper

    LOL

  3. There are different types of rough. Generally, it is any non-fairway and non-hazard area on the course. There is usually a strip of grass the runs along the edge of the fairway that is a little bit deeper than the fairway. This is the first cut of rough. Then comes a little deeper grass and then the less maintained and even deeper grass.

The deeper the grass, the more it grabs your club head as you swing through it. This cuts down on club head speed and can turn the club face open or closed and you loose some of the control of the club and you end up hitting a bad shot.

It is always best to stay out of the rough.

  4. It means that the ball is in the rough. This is bad, but not the worst. The worst is when the ball is out of bounds. The next worse is when the ball is in a hazard, like a sand bunker. The best is when the ball is in the fairway or on the green, those are both good.

  5. it's when you tee off and your ball hits the cart path, or other cement obstruction, then it becomes very rough.

  6. usually means thick grass, bushes, rocks, trees ect.

  7. it means it's in grass that you find in your lawn which is harder to shoot and usually means it's a bad shot!

  8. It is when a ball is hit out of the fairway that is the smooth short cut grass between the t-box and the green, the grass on both sides of the fairway is taller and not as well cut and that is called the rough.

  9. When your golf ball is in the rough, it means your ball lander in the thicker grass surrounding the edges of the fairway when you hit your shot. The grass in the rough is longer and denser than the grass on the fairways or greens. The rough lines the fairways and surrounds the greens. Rough is essentially a hazard but it does not require the addition of penalty shots. Usually the shot is harder from the rough compared to the fairway. Avoid the rough if you can!!! =)

  10. that means it's not on the fairway, it's off of the nice short grass and over in the longer grass.
